Maximum elegance: Villa Urquiza style

Villa Urquiza is a barrio (neighbourhood) in the north of Buenos Aires. Its two main milongas, Sin Rumbo and Sunderland were home to legendary names in tango such as Lampazo and Portalea. Curious to know what Villa Urquiza style is exactly? Let's ask Jorge Dispari, father and teacher of Geraldine Rojas, and the teacher of Javier Rodriguez and Sebastian Arce:

I would define this style of dancing as tango de salon danced with maximum elegance... with touches of brilliance that are impossible to repeat, given that the geniuses of the past have already departed; none of today’s talents interprets tango (the music) as before. Those are the major differences… The delicacy of stepping in caminatas, the details of giros around the common axis, slow ones, instead of speed without feeling…
 - Jorge Dispari

In this short course Michael will share with you the essence of this style that Jorge talks about: the special timing and feeling for the music in both the man and the woman's dance that gives Villa Urquiza style it's unique elegance and quality.
