Dear TLC Salseros
Before I list the next few events for your dancing diary, I just want to share 2 events in the last 48 hours with you which have been very memorable!
On Sunday, 50 of us went to see Burn the Floor in London (in a Big Red Bus) and the show was the best I have ever seen! It finishes on 4th September so hurry to catch it. We had a super day, full of fun and laughter and I’ll see if there are any other shows for a repeat trip.
Yesterday, we said farewell to our dear friend Colin Marston. The crematorium was packed to the hilt and was a fitting tribute to such a great man who touched so many people’s lives. The evening farewell party at TLC was also packed and I want to thank all of you who came, especially those from Essex, Birmingham, Brighton, London, IOW etc Some of Colin’s family also attended and experienced the Salsa family and saw how much we loved Colin. Marchant and Davina put together a wonderful book called ‘Colin Marston, Salsa Legend’, which included pictures, quotes and memories of Colin, and I have a copy which I will keep at TLC for you all to see. They also put together a fantastic presentation of the ‘life and times’ of Colin, which was both hilarious and deeply moving for all of us. We danced and reminisced until 11pm with a big Colin style ‘wooohooo’ after the last dance (Barry White stylee) and our memories of Colin and his inspiration will last with us forever.
So, now back to your diaries and we have LOTS of things going on for you in the next few weeks, so please note all the changes and additions - especially our ‘Toga Party’ themed night this Friday and also our Salsa or Tango Taster classes on 1st September, where if you recommend a friend to attend, you can gain free entry.
Weds, 25 August – Cuban Rueda for Level 4
7.45pm Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 Salsa classes
7.45pm Level 4 – while Chris is away, Tracie will teach Cuban Rueda (no experience of Rueda required)

Weds, 25 August – Kizomba for Beginners
Woodlands College, Minstead Avenue, Harefield, SO18 5FW
If you have seen the dancers in the back hall at Archers and wanted to try this gorgeous dance, then join us at:
8-9.30pm Kizomba class for BEGINNERS - designed for people with no experience (or very little) to Kizomba - entrance £8
This is an additional class to the usual 4 levels of Salsa classes, which will all run concurrently
Thurs, 26 August - Kizomba for Improvers

8-9.30pm Kizomba class for IMPROVERS - designed for people with some Kizomba experience.
All Salsa classes remain as scheduled and Tracie will take the Level 4 class
NB – Entrance to the Kizomba classes will be £8 (Salsa classes £7 as normal)
Please note that although classes will only be at the end of every month, you can practice EVERY WEEK after 9.30pm on Weds at Woodlands, Thursdays at Archers or Fridays at Caliente, where we have a dedicated Kizomba room, while Salsa is played in the main hall.

(Fancy dress is not compulsory, but most of us do go the whole 9 yards ... so don’t be shy! The easy option is just to wear anything gold or white!)
NB Entrance is £9 all night for this event, to cover costs not only for the guest teacher but also for the prizes, props and paraphernalia!
Sat, 28 August – No Rueda at Hedge End
Weds, 1st Sept - Try Salsa or Argentine Tango with Tracie's Latin Club
These 2 taster classes in either Salsa or Argentine Tango, designed for those people who have never danced before, will hopefully entice you off the sofa or office chair, and to experience the fun and friendly dance scene at TLC.

7.45-8.30pm Classes for Levels 1,2 & 3
8.30pm 15 mins break for practice dancing
8.45-9.30pm Level 1, level 2+ and level 3+ Where Level 2 and Level 3 classes will get slightly harder with new moves
Everyone is encouraged to stay for free style until 11pm
Entrance remains at £6 per person or discounted £20 pass for Sept, payable on the door

Monday 13th September 2010 - Adult Ballroom Classes Starting
@ TLC, Archers Club, 32 Archers Road, SO15 2LT
With Strictly Come Dancing starting in the Autumn, you could be more involved this year by learning the names of the steps, understanding the footwork and the technique of Ballroom & Latin dancing. What is Rise & Fall, what is the Line of Dance, and what is Promenade Position? All these questions and more will be answered.
The first 4 weeks will be an introduction to the most popular dances in Ballroom & Latin, the Waltz, the Quickstep, the Cha Cha Cha and the Jive. It will be a 4 week course at the special price of £15 per person. Following weeks will be ‘Pay as you go’ @ £5 per person. The classes are from 7.30pm – 9.00pm and there will be time to practise and to ask questions.
The format will be:
13th September Waltz
20th September Jive
27th September Quickstep
4th October Cha Cha Cha
The following 2 weeks we will re-cap on the above dances, so you have a chance to remember what you have learnt. The other dances that will be taught are: Social Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble.

Please arrive 15 mins early on the 13th September for time to register.
