We have Tango classes for all levels run by TLC, but our lovely beginners get a special course just for them.
Here at TLC we pride ourselves on providing a really friendly, caring and sociable club, whilst delivering excellent teaching of the fundamentals of tango technique. If you are coming on your own, the hardest thing will be walking through the door, but we give you a warm TLC welcome and you’ll feel right at home after that. All classes concentrate on the magical tango music and the connection in close embrace. No partner is necessary as we rotate partners, which helps you meet new friends and makes a lovely warm and friendly vibe. Fear not – there are no exams and with our wonderful teachers, you will slowly be shown the basics of this beautiful dance. Go on, take the chance, it might just change your life!
We feel it is essential to master the basics in order to be able to dance socially, and we therefore offer a wonderful opportunity for Beginners to learn this magical dance.
Our Level 1 course is in 2 parts: 1A & 1B – each of 4 weeks duration. It doesn’t matter when you start as long as you complete both parts in any order before moving up into Level 2.
For example, our next dates for courses are:
1A starts 7 Jan
1B starts 4 Feb
1A starts 3 March
1B starts 31 March etc
Therefore, you can book on any of the above dates, with either 1A or 1B, depending on your availability.
Don’t worry about starting, as we assume you know nothing about dance, and 2 left feet are fine as long as you can walk!
There are no need for partners as we all dance together, making the group very friendly, so please go ahead and book a solo ticket.
If you are booking with a partner and want to stay together, this is also fine and please mention this on the booking form.
As an Absolute Beginner the 4 week course must be booked in advance to secure your place.
The format of the evening is class starts 8–9.30pm every Tuesday (registration between 7.30 – 8.00pm), together with social & practice dancing for as long as you want to stay until 11.00pm.
Alternatively, if you want to see us in action and meet our friendly dance community, then please visit us at TLC on a Tuesday night and ask for Tracie (when she is not teaching!).
Our standard drop-in classes are £10 each (concessions £7), so the course offers a discounted rate. The concession price is for NUS and those from the Isle of Wight. You will need to produce a valid NUS card, ferry ticket, or proof of address on the door. Enrolment on the door is subject to availability, please allow 15 minutes.
Vouchers for a course may be purchased as a present and are valid for a year from the date of purchase. They can be redeemed to start at the beginning of any of our courses.
